How
can you escape death and reconnect with
God?
It may surprise you that
the answer is not religion! There are many
very good and religious people who have missed
out on how simple Gods offer of eternal life
is. The penalty for breaking Gods laws is death.
Either you have to pay for your crimes by being
put to death or someone else can pay for them
and you are let off the hook. That is exactly
what God has done for you.
God came into the world as
a man, Jesus, proved who He was by many miracles, died
on a cross to pay the death penalty,
and then came back to life to prove that he
had power over life and death.
There was a young man who
drove recklessly through a town going through
numerous red lights, speeding, and causing
many accidents. Finally the police pulled him
over, threw the book at him, and locked him
up. Soon came his day in court and he stood
before the judge. Many victims showed up and
testified against him. With so many witnesses
the judge found him guilty and the fines against
him were more than he could pay. He would be
locked up in jail for a long time. The man
was devastated as he realized the consequences
of his youthful recklessness. He fell down
before the judge, asked for mercy, and sincerely
vowed to change. Then an incredible thing happened,
once the verdict had been delivered and justice
was done, the judge got up and came down from
his bench. He wrote a check and paid the incredible
fines. Then the judge turned to the young man
and said "I have paid the fines myself,
my son, you are free to go."
That is what Jesus did for
you and me. He has paid the price so you can
live and not die. Every other religion
is about what you have to do to earn eternal
life. But Christianity is about what God has
done for you so you can live forever. It
is Gods invitation to you to accept His gift
of life and enter into a relationship with
Him.
For
the wages of sin is death, but the gift of
God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans
6:23
But
God demonstrates his own love for us in this:
While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans
5:8.
For
he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness
and brought us into the kingdom of the Son
he loves, in whom we have redemption, the
forgiveness of sins. Colossians
1:13-14
It really is a simple choice.
There are only two groups of people in the
world from Gods perspective.
Kingdom of God: People
who want God to be apart of their life and
want to love and help others. Jesus is the
King and all the people who accept his commands
and follow his leadership are apart of the
Kingdom of God.
Kingdom of Darkness: People
who don't want God telling them what to do
and want to live selfishly. Everyone else is
in what God calls the Kingdom of darkness,
where people are doing what ever they think
is right, hurting others in the process, and
following various leaders and philosophies
in the world.
What would it be like to
live in a community where everyone helped each
other. There would be no crime; no fear of
being raped, murdered, robbed, or tricked.
When you were in need, others would share with
you to help you get through. Families would
stay together and there would be no painful
divorces. You get the idea. Now is God really
out to take all the fun out of life by telling
us to love each other, or is he trying to show
us how to enjoy life the way he intended it
to be lived.
Which group would you
want to be apart of?
It is a simple thing to join
Gods side. When you admit to God that you have
been selfish and that it's wrong to be selfish,
he gives you a second chance. Tell him that
you want to start over and you want his help
to learn more about love. When you ask God
to become a part of your life and help you
to change, he cancels the death sentence. He
begins to show you day by day how to love those
around you. He will take care of providing
for the things you need for the rest of this
life and when your purpose here is finished,
he gives you a new life on the other side of
physical death.
Everyone who chooses to love
rather than be selfish will exist forever in
a new world where all selfishness and death
has been removed. We call that heaven. And
everyone who chooses to be selfish will be
locked up for ever in Gods prison for the criminally
insane (the incurably selfish), Hell.
